License Terms
The short version
- The free
simsentrypackage is MIT-licensed — use it however the MIT license allows. It is not governed by the EULA below. - SimSentry Pro is commercial software, sold to businesses only (B2B), under the End User License Agreement below. You accept it at checkout.
- Licenses are per company: Indie covers 1 engineer, Team up to 10 engineers in one legal entity. Machines, CI jobs, and simulation runs are unlimited.
- Reports and verification artifacts your runs produce are yours, without restriction.
- License keys are verified offline — no telemetry, no activation server.
The full agreement governs where this summary and the agreement differ.
SimSentry Pro — End User License Agreement (EULA)
Version: 1.0 (2026-07-11)
Licensor: Tim Kobiolka – SimSentry, c/o COCENTER, Koppoldstr. 1,
86551 Aichach, Germany (the "Licensor")
This End User License Agreement (the "Agreement") governs the use of the SimSentry Pro software package, including its scenario seed library, scenario generator, report generators, simulator adapters, and bundled assets (together the "Software"). By completing a purchase of a SimSentry Pro license, checking the acceptance box at checkout, or installing or using the Software, the entity you represent (the "Customer") agrees to this Agreement.
The Software is offered to businesses only (B2B). By purchasing, you confirm that you are acting in the exercise of a trade, business, or profession and not as a consumer.
1. Definitions
- "License Key" — the cryptographically signed key issued to the Customer after purchase, encoding the licensed tier and expiry date.
- "Tier" — the purchased license class: Indie or Team (section 3).
- "Authorized Users" — the Customer's employees and contractors, up to the seat limit of the purchased Tier, working on the Customer's own projects.
- "License Term" — the period from key issuance until the expiry date encoded in the License Key: 12 months for annual licenses, one billing month for monthly licenses (renewed automatically with each paid billing period), and 14 days for trial licenses, unless stated otherwise at purchase.
- "Scenario Content" — the scenario seeds shipped with the Software
(including the
wh_nav_adv_*warehouse library) and any scenarios produced by the Software's scenario generator.
2. License Grant
Subject to payment and to this Agreement, the Licensor grants the Customer, for the License Term, a non-exclusive, non-transferable, worldwide license to:
- install and run the Software on machines controlled by the Customer or operated for the Customer (including third-party CI runners and cloud/GPU hosts), for use by Authorized Users only;
- run the Software in the Customer's continuous-integration pipelines, including automatically on pull requests, for the Customer's own robotics projects;
- modify configuration files, scenario seeds, and generated worlds for the Customer's internal use;
- use, reproduce, and distribute reports and verification artifacts produced by the Software (JUnit XML, JSON/HTML evidence reports, replay bundles) without restriction, including sharing them with the Customer's own clients and auditors.
3. Tiers and Seats
- Indie — 1 Authorized User; 1 legal entity; licensed per 12-month or monthly License Term, at the price and in the currency presented at checkout.
- Team — up to 10 Authorized Users within one legal entity; licensed per 12-month or monthly License Term, at the price and in the currency presented at checkout.
Seat counts apply to the humans who invoke or configure the Software (directly or via CI they maintain), not to the number of machines, CI jobs, or simulation runs, which are unlimited.
Trial. A one-time, 14-day trial license per Customer gives the full features of the trialed Tier. The trial requires a payment method at sign-up and converts into a paid monthly license of that Tier unless canceled before the trial ends; cancellation before the end of the trial incurs no charge.
Licenses for more than 10 Authorized Users, multiple legal entities, or custom terms (Fleet/Enterprise) are offered under a separate written agreement; this Agreement applies to them only where that agreement says so.
4. Restrictions
Except where a mandatory statutory right applies (e.g. § 69e UrhG), the Customer must not:
- redistribute, sell, rent, lease, sublicense, or host the Software or any part of it (including the Scenario Content) for third parties;
- share, publish, or transfer License Keys, or circumvent, disable, or interfere with the Software's license enforcement;
- remove or alter copyright, license, or attribution notices;
- use the Software to build, train, or validate a product whose primary purpose is to substitute for the Software (a competing scenario-based verification pack);
- publicly publish the shipped Scenario Content as a collection (single scenarios embedded in the Customer's own test reports are fine);
- use the Software on behalf of an entity that is not the Customer (each legal entity needs its own license).
5. License Keys, Delivery, Activation
Delivery is electronic: the License Key and package-index access are provided after checkout. For monthly licenses, a fresh License Key is delivered with each paid billing period. The Software validates the License Key locally; no telemetry or activation server is contacted at runtime. The Licensor may revoke License Keys obtained through payment reversal, chargeback, or refund, or on breach of section 4.
6. Term, Renewal, Expiry
This Agreement runs for the License Term. Renewal of an annual license is a new purchase at the then-current published price; annual licenses do not renew automatically. Monthly licenses renew automatically with each billing period until canceled; cancellation stops future billing, and the most recently delivered License Key simply runs to its encoded expiry. On expiry:
- the Software's gated features stop accepting the expired key;
- rights under section 2 to run the Software end;
- reports and artifacts already produced remain the Customer's under section 2.4, and section 9 (ownership of Customer data) survives.
7. Updates and Support
During the License Term the Customer receives all updates to the Software published for their Tier, and email support at support@simsentry.io with a 2-business-day target first response. Support covers installation, configuration, and defects; it does not include consulting on the Customer's robot stack.
8. Third-Party Components
The Software bundles third-party components that remain under their own
licenses, including TurtleBot3 robot assets (Apache License 2.0 — see
simsentry_pro/robot_assets/LICENSE and NOTICE in the distribution).
Nothing in this Agreement restricts rights granted by those licenses.
The free simsentry package is a separate work under the MIT License
and is not governed by this Agreement.
9. Ownership
The Software and Scenario Content are and remain the intellectual property of the Licensor. The Customer's robot models, configurations, maps, logs, and all verification reports and artifacts produced from the Customer's runs are the Customer's.
10. Fees, Taxes, Refunds
Prices are stated at checkout, net of VAT; VAT (or reverse charge, with a valid VAT ID) is applied per the checkout flow. The Customer's first purchase of a paid Tier carries a 14-day money-back guarantee: a refund requested by email to support@simsentry.io within 14 days of that first purchase is honored in full, and the delivered License Key is revoked. A trial canceled before the trial ends is never charged. Fees are otherwise non-refundable except where this Agreement or mandatory law says otherwise.
11. Warranty; Simulation Disclaimer
The Licensor warrants that the Software substantially conforms to its documentation. The Software verifies robot behavior in simulation only. Simulation results — including passing verdicts — are not a representation, warranty, or certification that a robot is safe, compliant, or fit for operation in the physical world. Sim-to-real transfer is the Customer's engineering responsibility; the Customer remains solely responsible for real-world testing, safety engineering, certification, and regulatory compliance of its robots.
Except as stated above, the Software is provided "as is" and all other warranties are excluded to the extent permitted by law.
12. Limitation of Liability
The Licensor is liable without limit for intent (Vorsatz), gross negligence (grobe Fahrlässigkeit), injury to life, body, or health, and under the Produkthaftungsgesetz. For simple negligence, the Licensor is liable only for breach of essential contractual obligations (Kardinalpflichten), limited to the foreseeable damage typical for this kind of contract, and in aggregate to the fees paid by the Customer in the 12 months preceding the claim. Liability for data loss is limited to the recovery cost with reasonable backups. No liability for damage arising from real-world operation of robots (section 11).
13. Termination
Either party may terminate for cause. The Licensor may terminate if the Customer materially breaches sections 2–4 and does not cure within 14 days of notice. On termination for the Customer's breach, rights under section 2 end; sections 2.4 (existing artifacts), 9, 11, 12, and 14 survive.
14. General
- Governing law: the law of the Federal Republic of Germany, excluding the CISG and conflict-of-law rules.
- Venue: Nürnberg, Germany, for merchants (Kaufleute) and equivalents.
- Assignment: the Customer may assign this Agreement to a legal successor of its business with notice; otherwise assignment requires consent.
- Amendments: changes apply to renewals, not retroactively to a running License Term.
- Severability: invalidity of one clause leaves the rest in force.
- Entire agreement: this Agreement plus the checkout order form is the entire agreement for the Software, superseding marketing copy and FAQ text.
